Title 11-13 Eastgate Street, Chester (formerly Owen Owen): An Archaeological Evaluation
Author/Originator
Report Number
Date/Year 1990

Abstract/Summary

Limited evaluation of five trenches to the rear of 11-13 Eastgate Street in 1990. The premises were formerly owned by Owen Owen and were due for redevelopment by the present owners Refuge Assurance plc. The trial pits from inside the property indicate a low level of survival of below ground features however evidence of at least medieval remains were noted beneath No 2 Northgate Street and the Dark Row. It was recommended that observations be carried out during works to the rear of 11-13 Eastgate Street while more extensive excavation be carried out beneath the Dark Row and Northgate Street frontage.
