Full Description
<1> Chester Archaeology, 1990, 11-13 Eastgate Street, Chester (formerly Owen Owen): An Archaeological Evaluation, R2088 (Client Report). SCH4116.
Archaeological investigations to the rear of 11-13 Eastgate Street identified a late post medieval wall within trench 1 of the investigations. The small scale nature of the investigation precluded further investigation, however.
Trench 1 was located to the rear of of the property, some 33m from the present street frontage. Following the removal of the modern make up layers, a single brick foundation for a wall was recorded on a north-south alignment along with traces of a mortar floor. It is believed the features relate to a late post medieval cellar associated with an earlier building.
