LNWR branchline opened in 1872 to link the Crewe to Chester and Crewe to Shrewsbury lines. Line ran between Tattenhall junction and Whitchurch with Stations at Tattenhall, Broxton, Malpas and Grindley Brook Halt.

Closed to passengers in 1957 and to goods in 1963.
