Summary

The brook running through Edge was known to operate two mills from at least the fouteenth century. By the late eighteenth century, there are three. Two of them still survive as standing post medieval buildings (CHER 1699/1/1 & CHER 1699/2/1) and there are earthworks surviving from all three (CHER 1699/1/3, CHER 1699/2/3 & CHER 1699/3/0).

The brook running through Edge was known to operate three mills in medieval times. Two of them still survive as standing post medieval buildings and there are earthworks surviving from all three.

The first documentary reference to Edge Mill dates from 1310. A later reference (1626) refers to two water mills called Standish Mylnes (see 5).
