Description
Evaluation has recorded evidence for extensive industrial activity in the medieval and post medieval periods to the rear of properties fronting onto Foregate St. As well as walls and surfaces from a series of workshops, a quantity of waste material was found including clay moulds for casting bronze cauldrons and evidence for other types of metal working. Several horn cores from the site also indicated horn or leatherworking in the area. Waterlogged material from the post medieval period also noted (1). A dump fo more that 30kg of clay moulds were recorded (2).
