Full Description
<1> County Historic Environment Record, 1973-1985, Cheshire Archaeological Bulletin, Issue 4, p.32, Ray J, 1976 (Journal/Periodical). SCH565.
Excavation carried out to rear of house (31 Hospital Sreet). Brick-lined cess pit removed to depth of 1m revealed a complex of organic soil and clay layers totalling 2m in depth. Upper layers had birch twigs, animal bones and mussel shells. Lower waterlogged levels produced three timber beams standing upright, C13-C15 medieval pot, plain and decorated floor tiles and a leather shoe. Finds with excavator.

31 Hospital St: Timber preserved still, 13th-16th pottery, floor tiles, complete inner sole of a leather shoe.
