Full Description
<1> Jones G D B, 1992, Condate - Roman Northwich: The Last Hurrah, p.3 (Unpublished Document). SCH3820.
In 1978, the north side of Chester Road produced evidence of a rampart with a secondary stone revetment in the Ryders Place redevelopment. Well preserved stratigraphy also made it clear there was a period of abandonment between the two military occupations of the site, occupations that appeared to end sometime in the first half of the second century AD.

A single long, narrow evaluation trench was excavated by Prof Barri Jones (University of Manchester), in 1978, ahead of house construction to the east of Ryder Street. The evaluation trench located the eastern ditch and rampart (later revetted stone), inter vallum road and cutting this a round house. [In 'The Last Hurrah' document (SCH3820, Source 1) this site has three names - Ryder Place, Harrisons Place and Lions Walks but they are all the same site].
