Description
Dairy Dig, Chester Road, excavated by the Northwich Archaeological Group, 1973.
A single square trench was examined in 1973 on the northern side of Chester Road, immediately north of the current bus stop. It located foundation trenches and floors for wooden buildings.
No interim report located. Some finds material is held by Cheshire Museums. (Source 1)
Photographs of the excavation of a building of late first century AD at the Dairy Dig site. One photograph shows the foundation beam slots of the building before excavation, also a floor of local clay. The second photograph is taken after excavation of the features. (Source 2)
