Description

Programme of archaeological work including watching brief, evaluation and strip, map and record was carried out at the South East Angle Tower between April and June in 2011. The work comprised the excavation of 26 trial pits. The results of the excavations indicated the survival of multi period archaeological remains including Roman rampart deposits, surface metalling, potential city ditch deposits and post medieval pit/cellar fills with a substantial quantity of finds.
