Description

Excavations revealed a series of post-medieval occupation layers, garden features and foundation trenches, demonstrating intense activity on the site from the sixteenth century onwards, including some light industrial activity during the mid-seventeenth century. A subsequent watching brief during building operations revealed a stone-lined pit with a quantity of eighteenth century pottery (2). Earlier evidence was represented by rubbish pits containing evidence of a mid- to late twelfth and thirteenth century date (1).
