Description

Limited excavation on the exposed part of Chester's Roman amphitheatre in the summer of 2000 focused on a small number of specific questions (1). It improved knowledge about the extent and nature of the archaeological remains, and helped generate suggestions for the future management of the site. Chester archaeology excavated nine trenches between July and September 2000, to determine how much, if any, archaeology survived the excavations carried out during the 1960s (ECH8209).
