Description

Evaluation undertaken in advance of redevelopment proposals on the site. A large ditch was encountered parallel with the road, and although no dating evidence was recovered, it could, based on stratigraphic analysis, have been of Roman date (1). Various pits of unknown function and one modern cesspit were also recorded. A thin occupation layer of containing a very small number of Roman finds was also identified immediately above natural sediment.
