Title Chester Racecourse: Owners and Trainers Pavilion. Archaeological Watching Brief
Author/Originator
Report Number
Date/Year 2008

Abstract/Summary

The watching Brief identified the remains of late post medieval features associated with temporary structures erected during fairs, circuses and race meetings, as shown in a mid 19th century illustration of the race course. No archaeological deposits dating to the period prior to the 18th century were uncovered, the earlier archaeological deposits were possibly sealed beneath/within the exposed naturally formed silts, and would not be affected by the current programme of works.
