<3> Chester Archaeology, 1993, A534 Wheelock Bypass: Desk-Based Assessment, August 1993 (Client Report). SCH4302.

Archaeological assessment undertaken in 1993 in advance of the A534 Wheelock Bypass the route of which passes immediately to the east of the buildings depicted on the OS 1911 map and labelled 'Wheelock Old Salt Works'. Also observes that no salt works are depicted here on the 19th century Tithe map. There was no evidence of the former salt works on a site visit in 1993 and the area appeared to have been landscaped.
