Grade II Listed flood gates and sluice bridge. C.1890. Red sandstone ashlar with cast iron bridge. Two round arches of cast iron set between rusticated ashlar piers. Downriver devation: lateral and central cut waters supporting ramped buttresses with piers above which have limestone dressings. Ashlar springers to the cast iron bridges from which the sluice gates are suspended.

A photographic record was undertaken in 1997-8 for restoration works carried out at Vale Royal Upper Sluices on the navigable section of the River Weaver Navigation between Frodsham and Northwich. These works formed part of a major project to refurbish and modernise the sluice structures.
