Full Description
A surface made of trampled soil and a pebble floor, perhaps a yard surface, found during test pitting at the site of the Maison Romano Hotel in 1990 (1). Roman pottery and building materials, in addition to a copper-alloy ring, dating from the late first to second century, were sealed by this surface.
This was the latest of three surfaces, each made of different materials (1). A mixture of Roman, medieval, and post-medieval pottery was found above this surface, and so its date is not certain. Please see CHER 8022.
