Description

Recording and observations made during the laying of new sewers in Water Tower Street, at the site of Chester's Royal Infirmary, have uncovered a Roman stone pila or small pillar used in a hypocaust or central heating system (1, 2). Evidence of medieval activity and structures, in addition to a pot medieval sewer, was also found.
