Site Event/Activity record ECH4872 - River Wall Restoration, Old Port, Chester: Archaeological Assessment and Watching Brief

This event represents an archaeological desk-based assessment and trial trench excavations, undertaken as part of a feasibility study for river wall restoration at Old Port, Chester. The desk-based assessment study area was comprised of the bank of the River Dee between the railway viaduct at the southern end of the British Gas site, to the northern end of Tilston's Yard. Three trial trenches were excavated along the river bank in July 2000, in connection to proposed flood defence measures. Additionally, the monitoriing of three service trenches for electricity cables off Kitchen St. took place.
