A series of inlets, of a possible 18th century date, are recorded along the riverfront at the port of Chester. The inlets are likely man-made features used to facilitate boat yards and wharves along the river front. Many of the inlets were subsequently infilled during the 19th and 20th century as industry expanded along the port.
