Description

This event is a desk-based assessment carried out in response to a proposal to install an underfloor heating system in the nave of Chester Cathedral. This work was to affect the nave and the central aisle of the south transept, and it was anticipated that it would disturb any flooring and underlying materials to a depth of 0.3m. The major developmental sequences of these parts of the building were outlined, and archaeological considerations and opportunities were emphasised.
