Description

A watching Brief during trenching for the new pipe line in Welsh Row, High St and Swine Market Area. The trenching rarely was deep enough to penetrate archaeological deposits. However, in deeper excavation areas significant archaeology was encountered. The preservation of organic material was remarkable, two timber trackways were identified, one medieval and one roman. Possible medieval barrel and other timbers were also recorded.
