Description

The archaeological excavation of three machine-dug evaluation trenches, and the observation of a geotechnical survey was carried out in May 1997 to inform proposals to redevelop the site on which the Bridge House now stands. Trench I produced a possible Roman pit, while any remains that may once have been in Trench II were removed by old service trenches. A potentially Roman surface was recorded in Trench III.
