Full Description
A small quantity of medieval to post medieval pottery and other artefacts were recovered during archaeological investigations at Queen’s Park in 1997.
The investigations revealed a small number of medieval sherds including one unusual fragment that could not be identified. The unusual fragment appeared similar to 11th-12th century Rhenish ware.
Post medieval pottery was largely dated to the 17th and 18th century along with several pieces of clay tobacco pipe of a similar date. A piece of clay waste was also recovered, believed to be part of a kiln space/bob by the excavator, it may indicate pottery manufacture in the 18th century. (1)
