Description
Permission was granted to carry out excavations at Watergate House in 1959, the earliest building on the site was a timber structure dating to the late first century which was rebuilt in stone in the early part of the second century. The building was c20ft wide and 130ft long, possibly a stable or warehouse. In the mid-second century rooms were added to the north side of the building (1). Medieval pits were also recorded here (4).
