Description

In 1976, an extension was constructed to the rear of 76 Lower Bridge St., and involved the excavation of an area approximately 25m square in the back yard, to a depth of 0.75m below ground level (2). Observations identified a post-medieval brick hearth or furnace and a dumping of Roman pottery and roof tile, possibly from the building discovered in Castle St. (ECH2823), in addition to sections of lead water pipes complete with a junction box (1).
