Description

In 1976, the construction of a fire escape at the YMCA (Old Bishop's Palace) produced Roman pottery. The Samian and coarse pottery cover the period c AD 140 - 270/280, while Saxon, medieval and post medieval period finds were also recovered (1). No other information on the nature of this event is available, and it is reported by a brief finds report only (1).
