Description

UPPER NORTHGATE STREET, 1901: Hoard of 25 silver Groats of Edward III c. AD 1300 (1). CHER 11009/1 NEW OFFICES OF THE CHESTER CHRONICLE, 1901: fourteenth century crypt with doorway exposed, also some Roman amphorae (1). CHER 10230; 8088/9 BRIDGE STREET EAST, 1901: In premises of Messrs Davies and Shepherd's warehouse, two Roman mosaic floors were recorded (1) (2). CHER 8393; 10100/52 FRODSHAM STREET, 1901: A lamp was found west of Frodsham St. or Cow Lane in 1901, during the construction of a cellar for new premises on the west side of the street, opposite what was then a new public house. The lamp was found by workmen and is 3.25 inches long (1). CHER 8030/37 UPTON, NEAR CHESTER, 1901: silver denarius dated to c.89 BC recorded (1).
