Abstract/Summary

Draft Interim report on 1989 excavations at Ryder St, Northwich. Three trenches were dug to the west of Ryder Street and north of the Bowling Green/Castle Court area prior to development for housing. These were located in an area of allotments (trench 2 and 3) and on the site of a former garage (trench 1), with the aim of locating the northern defences of the Roman fort, first discovered in 1983 during the Bowling Green excavations. The northern fort ditch was located and other Roman features (potential structures) to the north of this.
