Summary

This mill was built between 1878 and 1887 by Collinge and Company. The mill was originally used for fustian cutting, but is later used as a tobacco factory. Fustian is a mixed fibre cloth of linen, cotton and sometimes silk. It is woven in such a way the the surface can be cut to produce a nap. Cutting was originally done by hand and the cutter needed to walk up and down the room all day. The rooms used for this process needed a long floorspace and substantial flooring.

Built between 1878 and 1887 by Collinge and Co. for fustian cutting. Stands out in design among simple buildings.
