Summary

Built around 1845. Characterised by a high, spacious and well lit top storey. Silk mills are shown around this NGR on the 1st edition OS 6" (1881-82) and 25" (1875) maps of Cheshire. The arrival of the silk industry in the 1750s brought new prosperity and growth to Congleton with up to thirty four mills operating in the town using the River Dane and Howty Brook.
