Full Description
<1> County Historic Environment Record, 1973-1985, Cheshire Archaeological Bulletin, No.5, p.36-39 (Journal/Periodical). SCH565.
Possibly dates from 1741 when Hefferston Grange was refurbished. The ice house is brick built with drains in four sides and is cone shaped and capped by a dome. The brickwok is excellent and a ladder and drain covers are are still in place.

Late eighteenth century or early nineteenth century. Orange brick. In an earth covered mound and has lost its entrance way. Circular domed chamber of header bond brick is intact with more pointed base. Doorway into chamber survives and contains a metal ladder which may be original.
