Summary

Hefferston Grange is an example of a gentleman's residence of the eighteenth century. The original house of around 1700 has largely been lost to P H Warburton’s rebuild of 1741 which shares many details with Daresbury Hall. The house was enlarged in the 1770s in the neo-classical style and further small additions were made in 1876. From 1921 to 1948 the house became part of a sanatorium complex and, until its closure in the 1980s, a hospital.
