Full Description
Formerly water powered textile mill. Built either 1794, by John Lowe (1 & 2), or 1820 (3). Coursed, squared, buff sandstone rubble. Kerridge stone-slate roof, stone ridge, 1 gable chimney and rectangular mill chimney at east end. Body of mill is 6 bay, 3 storey on south side, 2 storey on north side (3). The original mill was 9m x 7.5m, and was built to house spinning jennies, the mill was extended to 18m long, in 1827, and was described as a silk mill. Steam engine installed 1860. The mill wheel was 5m diameter, with a 3.5m concentric iron gear wheel. The mill owner's house adjoins (1).
