Full Description
<1> Calladine A & Fricker J, 1993, East Cheshire Textile Mills, p.49,66 (Book). SCH1093.
An early nineteenth century steam powered mill with a dry chute privy tower. It conforms to a standard format of construction which is generally viewed as typical of early textile mill architecture. A warehouse extension shares a similar type of brick and architectural style to the main building suggesting it was added shortly after mill was built.

Brunswick Mill on Lowe Street was founded in around 1860. The building later became home to metal fabricators ER Burgess for around twenty years. Now occupied by a joinery business.

<6> Various, Various, Oral communication to the HER, Edwards R, 22/11/2024 (Oral Communication). SCH2330.
Brunswick Mill and Lowe Mill have separate entries in the East Cheshire Textile Mills gazetteer (see 1). The former entry is poorly located. Pickford Street C Mill (CHER 2608/34) is named Brunswick Mill on modern Ordnance Survey maps, however late nineteenth century maps (see 3 and 4) label this mill as Brunswick Mill. These maps also indicate that the warehouse is not contemporary with the mill buildings (see 1). In addition the warehouse is built of a distinctly different brick, though the window design is similar to that of the mill building. It probably dates from the early to mid-twentieth century.
