Full Description
Built in the mid to late 1780s. Leased in parts in the latter half of the 19th century. Destroyed by fire in October 1882. Also listed as Oak Bank Print Works. ECTMS 218 (1). Built originally by Philip and George Antrobus. The original mill was demolished in the 1850s to make way for a 5 storey, 14 by 8 bay steam powered mill. The ground floor and surrounding buildings were used for calico printing, the upper storeys for cotton spinning. The fire left 100 unemployed. Textile printing continued on the site until recently (2).
