Summary

Alderley Park contained a deer house. It was square in plan with walls and corner towers in the style of a castle. As well as providing shelter for the deer, it was also an eye catcher (folly) visible from the old hall. It possibly dates from the 18th century and was demolished in the late 20th century.

Full Description

A deer house in Alderley Deer Park. A square walled enclosure castellated with corner towers for deer to shelter in. Possibly dates from the 18th century and was demolished in 20th century. A print of the structure survives in the Manchester City Library.

A curious 18th century deer enclosure with castellated walls designed as an eye catcher to be seen from the Old Hall.

A sub-square enclosure with three small structures is depicted on the tithe map. Two of the structures are located on corners of the square and on the north-west side. The other is located in the centre of the opposing side.

Despicts a sub-square enclosure with two small structures on the north-west side and two largers structures on the south-eastern side. Labelled Deer House.
