China clay and bone ash warehouse, circa 1880-1890. Single storey, double depth plan. Red and blue brick with slate roof. Circular openings filled with cast iron wheel grilles, with radiating spokes, on gable pediments.
The building was used for the storage of china clay, shipped by coaster from Cornwall, then transported by narrow boat to the Potteries. Bone ash, for bone china, was similarly stored and transported. The warehouse is on an island formed by the canal, the basin and an arm of the canal.
