Summary

This monument represents finds from the site of the Trustee Savings Bank at the corner of Grosvenor St. and Castle St., found on two different occasions. In 1853, a Roman 'vase' was reported to have been found. While in 1939, a mid-second century flanged Samian ware bowl was found in the garden of the bank during the construction of an ARP (Air Raid Precautions) shelter.

Full Description

This monument represents finds from the site of the Trustee Savings Bank at the corner of Grosvenor St. and Castle St., found on two different occasions. In 1853, a Roman 'vase' was reported to have been found (1, 2). While in 1939, a mid-second century flanged Samian ware bowl was found in the garden of the bank during the construction of an ARP shelter (3).
