Summary

Two gullies and a pit were excavated in 2023 as part of archaeological mitigation associated with the extension of Forest Hill Quarry. No finds were recovered from the features and their date is unknown.

Archaeological monitoring in 2023 during the extension of Forest Hill Quarry (Area H) identified and excavated two gullies and a pit. Gully [3] was aligned north-east/south-west and measured 0.54m wide, 28m+ in length and 0.35m deep. Pit [4] measured 0.66m in diameter and was 0.19m deep. Gully [5] was aligned north-east/south-west, measured 0.85m wide, 12m+ in length and 0.21m deep. All three features were filled with a dark black-brown sandy silt but no finds were recovered and the features remain undated.
