Full Description
<1> English Heritage, 2005, List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest, 58001 (Digital Archive). SCH4666.
Farmhouse: dated 1752 with extensive modernisations c.1980. Coursed, squared, buff, sandstone rubble. Kerridge stone-slate roof, stone ridge and two stone chimneys. Double pile house with two parallel ridges. Two-storey, three-bay front. Slight plinth and massive quoins. End bays have three-light twentieth century casements with glazing bars in the surrounds of three-light square-sectioned stone mullions. Near central semi-circular headed doorcase with prominent keystone now has wrought iron gate. This is approached by a flight of steps. Above is date tablet reading GB (for Brocklehurst) 1752 and a single light window. Interior: Plan intact but no surviving original features.

This map depicts two buildings at this location. The plot containing the house is described as a homestead and garden.

This map depicts two buildings and a small square enclosure at this location. One building, the house, is located on the eastern side of the lane. The small enclosure is directly opposite on the western side of the lane, with the second building to its immediate south. Labelled Thorneycroft.

A small building is visible to the west of the farm building. A further building or building is visible c.25m to the south.

The building to the south of the farm building is no longer extant. There may be an extension on the southern side of the farmhouse.

Two large farm buildings have been constructed to the west of the farmstead. The northern half of the original farm building appears to have no roof. There may be an extension on the southern side of the farmhouse.

This map depicts a sizable open-sided building attached to the southern side of the house. There may be a further extension to the house on it's south-eastern corner.
