Monument record 14940 - Site of Totty's Hall, West of Minshull New Road

A heritage assessment undertaken for land at Leighton West notes the site of Totty's Hall in the area of study. Two buildings are visible on the Tithe Map for Leighton dating to 1847; the details for plot 11 are as follows:- Owner: Nickson / Occupier: Joseph Allwood / Plot Name: House Yard Gardens etc.

The buildings are also visible on historic First Edition Ordnance Survey mapping (c1875) and labelled as 'Totty's Hall'. However, by the time of the Second Edition map (c1898), the original buildings are no longer extant but have been replaced by a series of new buildings, also labelled as 'Totty's Hall'.

Totty's Hall is visible on air photographs dating to the 1940s.

Totty's Hall is no longer present on photographs dating to the 1970s.
