An excavation trench (trench 2) dug in 1996 on land to the north of Church Street recorded the probable foundations of a house, recorded on nineteenth century maps as one of a line of terraced houses located on the east side of General Street at its southern end. The excavated foundations probably represent the rear eastern wall of the house, with internal flag floor which was later cemented over, and an external flooring of brick and flags. Internally the floor was set over rubble. Underlying these foundations was a thick layer of dark soil probably cultivation soil which produced eighteenth century pottery.
