Full Description

<1> Various, Various, Oral communication to the HER, Edwards R, 16/03/2017 (Oral Communication). SCH2330.

Farmstead believed to date from the late seventeenth century (see 2), though the earliest documentary reference to Withinlow (Wythenload) dates from 1611 (see 3). The farmstead or the surrounding fields is not depicted on the tithe map for the township (see 4) suggesting that it wasn't subject to tithe. Aerial photographs (see 7 to 10) seem to indicate that the farmstead remained occupied and/or in good repair until relatively recently. By 2010 (see 10) the roofs of some of the unlisted buildings are obviously in a state of disrepair. Notably these aerial images also show earthworks of narrow ridge and furrow in the surrounding fields.
