Summary

A potential ditch was identified on air photographs dating to 1973 running adjacent to the northern edge of the North Cheshire Ridge Roman Road as it passes to the south of High Legh. This may represent one of the bounding ditches of the Roman road which have been proven to exist elsewhere through excavation.

As part of an archaeological evaluation undertaken in 1993 in advance of the development of a golf course at High Legh, a potential ditch was identified on air photographs dating to 1973 running adjacent to the northern edge of the North Cheshire Ridge Roman Road as it passes to the south of High Legh. This may represent one of the bounding ditches of the Roman road which have been proven to exist elsewhere through excavation.
