Full Description

<1> Chester Archaeology, 1993, A534 Wheelock Bypass: Desk-Based Assessment, August 1993 (Client Report). SCH4302.

An archaeological assessment undertaken in 1993 in advance of the A534 Wheelock Bypass identified a block of medieval ridge and furrow earthworks on air photographs dating to 1973 and 1992, to the north of Fields Farm. A field visit confirmed the earthworks to be still upstanding.

<2> Bluesky International Ltd, 2010, 2010 Bluesky Survey (Aerial Photograph). SCH5444.

The block of ridge and furrow is still visible as earthworks on air photographs dating to 2010. A second block of ridge and furrow is also visible immediately to the south-east of the farm. The ridges are very broad.
