Summary
Historic route leading north west from Upper Northgate Street to the Stone Bridge. The road is medieval in origin and led to the port located north of the city. It is first mentioned in 1265 and continuously thereafter as the highway leading to the Port Pool. The name changed to Garden lane only in the 19th century.
