A Roman bronze brooch was discovered in a garden at Beeston View, Handbridge in 1982. It was described as a bronze brooch in the form of a cockerel inlaid with blue, red, yellow and white enamel panels.

It is of form Collingwood and Richmond 109, of a probable second century date.
