Full Description
Archaeological investigations between Russell Street and City Road, on the site of the former Rylands Garage between 2004 and 2005 identified evidence of post medieval features in trench 2 of the excavations.
The evidence consisted of post medieval cultivation soils [182] containing pottery of a 17th-18th century date. The layer was cut by a ditch or pit containing 18th century domestic material. It was suggested by the excavator that this may represent a possible boundary ditch or defuse pit (1)
