Full Description
Archaeological investigations to the rear of 29 Foregate St. in 1998 identified a number of Roman features (1). The investigations remain in unpublished and no trench plan is attached to the available archive notes. However, the excavators identified a surface composed of sandstone fragments and cobbles, and 'considered [it] to be possibly Roman' (1). Additional Roman features excavated at that time were a well or structure (CHER 8570) and a wall (CHER 8571).
