Full Description

A warehouse is recorded at Bolland’s Court in the late 19th century, included on English Heritage’s Listed Building Register in 1998 it comprises a four storey brick structure believed to incorporate traces of the medieval Common Hall (CHER 10071). (1)

Archaeological investigations at the warehouse in 2001 encountered traces of the foundations of the warehouse in trench 1 of the excavation as well as evidence of an earlier, undated structure (CHER 10215). (2)

The building was surveyed in 2003 by students from Chester College of Further Education, the results of which indicate much of the original 19th century fabric remained intact although at least four phases of redevelopment could be identified in its current structure, primarily as a result of modernisation, the best preserved part of the building was its west wall.
